The Reading Guidance Center is a private learning clinic dedicated to the concept that learning disabilities can be overcome. It is our sincere desire to assist each student to eliminate reading deficiencies by methods which will increase self-confidence and interest in learning. Our programs are most inclusive. We work with total non-readers through superior students who desire special work in advanced skills.
Diagnostic testing assists in determining present reading difficulties, indicates the presence of perceptual or developmental factors affecting progress, and helps to identify appropriate remedial techniques.
An individualized program is outlined, and goals are set to assist students in overcoming specific weaknesses: phonics, word-recognition, spelling, vocabulary, comprehension and recall, reading rate, and/or study and memory techniques.
Small group instruction, usually limited to two students per group, closely matched by age and reading ability, allows for a successful peer-group experience.
Private instruction is recommended when diagnosis indicates that a one-to-one relationship with the instructor would be more productive than the group environment. Often, after an initial learning period, a student is able to move into a small group situation.
