Some Comments about the Reading Guidance Center Program

A sample of unsolicited comments about our services, on tape and on file at the Reading Guidance Center:

    From a mother

"I just wanted to thank you for the work you did with S. this summer…you and A. I'm really very pleased because S. is actually reading books for pleasure, which is an amazing, amazing, amazing breakthrough! If I'm not mistaken, she's read eight books this summer…or nine. One book that she had to read for school, and then she read eight books literally for pleasure.

"She's reading A Series of Unfortunate Events which has eleven books. She's on number seven right now, would you believe? And then she also read a novel that you guys had her read. She actually enjoyed it so much that she went back to the library to take it out again. It is truly an amazing, amazing, amazing breakthrough!

"She's actually understanding what she's reading and I wanted to call and give credit where credit is definitely due, and just praise you for your work, tell you how grateful I am; we all are.

"I don't know about future classes but just hope you get a warm glow when you listen to this message. You definitely deserve it, you and A. Whatever you did, it was very, very effective."

    From a father

"I did receive the letter D. wrote and did see the marked improvement, which is attributed to yourself and your hard work with D. It's much appreciated. Keep up the good work because you know he can use more. It was refreshing to see some nice work being done, so thank you and keep up the good work."

    Another mother

"I did want to call to tell you and M. thank you very much for your hard work because C. did very well on his exams. The first-grade teacher said she saw remarkable improvement in test scores, and even asked where he was going, because in a short amount of time, he was able to pick up the information that he needed to. He did very well on the oral clues, which was the score he didn't do very well on the first time. So I just wanted to call to say thank you very much…"

    And yet another mother

"I just wanted to tell T. and everybody there how wonderfuly S. reads now. I can't believe it; she's so fluent! It's like it just happened in the last month or two. Yes, I almost cried when I'd been listening to her reading something very difficult. And so, thank you very much."

    From a family

"We want to take this time to say thank you! You have been so helpful and positive with our sons. Everything that you have suggested has been appreciated. Thank you for everything. We hope to continue in September."
